That is our primary goal when building a bike, getting parts we don't have to worry about." Cliff Jones is the supervisor of piston production at MTC Engineering and a Drag Bike Racer with 15 years experience on the track. "We have several processes that no one else in the industry uses" said Jones. "It all starts with the aluminum forgings. Our blanks are made from a special alloy that contains no silicone." It was MTC that pioneered the use of this high strength aluminum in their forged piston blanks.  "The pistons are machined to very close tolerances providing tighter piston to cylinder wall clearance." Jones went on to say. "Once the pistons are CNC machined, we go a step further by precision grinding them to even closer tolerances." Maintaining close skirt tolerances allows each cylinder to be bored to equal dimensions giving you better ring-gap sealing. The end result is more horsepower.Because of the extremely close tolerances, MTC engineered an oil management system that distributes more oil evenly around the cylinder wall to piston skirt. The system even includes oil management ports that keep the wrist pins continually lubricated. This results in longer engine life. All these processes come together to create some of the fastest motorcycle pistons in the world.
